Baypreg® F composite

Baypreg F® is a two-component polyurethane system used in compression molding of natural fiber mats alone, or fiber-reinforced sandwich panels to produce a variety of composite automotive parts. The Baypreg F polyurethane system produces high strength, extremely lightweight and rigid molded composite parts, such as door panels, sun shades and load panels. The Baypreg F polyurethane system replaces glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics when a solvent-free resin with excellent mechanical properties is needed. There are two variants of the Baypreg F polyurethane system available:

  • A self-releasing formula for press molding without facings (e.g. interior trim supports in motor vehicles etc.)
  • A potentially adhesive formula for sandwich constructions (e.g. surfboards, doors etc.)

Because of its long pot life of up to 15 minutes, the Baypreg F system can be pre-mixed manually from the two components and can then be poured onto the fiber material. It is, however, more efficient to use conventional two-component polyurethane processing machines. These machines are able to pour or spray the material. Due to excellent impregnation properties, positive results have been obtained with fiber reinforcing materials such as glass, aramide, carbon, jute, flax, sisal, hemp and cotton.
